Fontana di Trevi – Magic Fountains of Rome – (Part 2)


Fontana di Trevi is the most famous and largest fountain in a city of fountains.

When Pope Clement XII organized a tender for this fountain, no one thought that the young and inexperienced Nicola Salvi would have a chance to turn his vision into reality.


This monumental baroque composition is 50 meters wide and 25 meters high. In the lateral niches, there are personifications of wealth and healing. These figures are the work of Filippo Vale.


Trevi Fountain was built on the end of the Aqua Virgo, the revied ancient Roman aqueduct.
